UPDATED: Questbridge Matches & College Acceptance Updates
Three MITES students got matched to colleges via the Questbridge Scholarship Program. One was matched to Stanford. Another got matched to Wesleyan. Last but not least, the last was matched to Yale.
We have compiled a spreadsheet with the institutions the Mites 2012 class has been accepted into so far. MITES 2012 College Acceptances!

Scholarships
One of the MITES students became the only student in the state of Delaware to receive the Horacio Alger National Scholarship, a $20,000 award which "provides financial assistance to students who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity, and who aspire to pursue higher education"Read the article here.
Another MITES student was presented a $15,000 scholarship from Lisa Paulsen, the president and CEO of the Entertainment Industry Foundation.
Another MITES student recieved a $15,000 national scholarship from Girls Inc. as one of 10 girls presented with this award. See the article here.
One MITES student became a Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange CIEE scholarship recipient, an opportunity in which he will study abroad in Germany for a full year, all expenses paid.
Another MITES student and her robotics team were finalists at the off-season Calgames tournament in Woodside, California in October.
During the months of January to April, approximately 6 MITES students are working hard on their robots to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Wish them luck for all those future late nights filled with innovation! More information about FIRST Robotics here.

Gates Millenium Scholarship Applications
"The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice." One MITES student from Hawaii and his VEX robotics team won the Oahu Vex Robotics Tournament in November and won second place for robot skills and is set to attend the VEX Robotics High School World Championships in Anaheim, California in the spring. Congrats to him and his team!!! College Applications
While the some Questbridge applicants are beginning to receive their admission decisions, the rest of the MITES applicants have already submitted Early Action/Early Decision applications to their top choices just in time for the early November deadline. Some deadlines were extended due to Hurricane Sandy. Many have had college interviews with schools like Rice University, Stanford University, as well as MIT. Others are dutifully filling out their Regular Decision applications to meet the upcoming January deadline.
College Hosting Weekends
MITES 2012 excels in many different areas and has a broad prospective college pool. After spending 6 weeks at one of the best universities in the world, some of the MITES class ventured onto other college campuses to figure out which college would be the best fit for them for the next 4 years.
Harvey Mudd College:
Harvey Mudd, a private liberal arts university of science, engineering, and mathematics located in Claremont, California hosted its an annual Fall FAST Program during the third weekend of September. Five MITES students attended and had a great time reconnecting and learning about another superior engineering program. The FAST program is free and participants receive a fee waiver for their HMC Freshman Application.
Williams College:
Williams College is a four year liberal arts college located in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The college hosted two of the MITES students for a couple days during the month of September for the WOW, Windows on Williams program. This program was targeted to strong applicants and offers an "opportunity to experience life as a Williams student and participate in programming designed to shed light on admission and financial aid processes at Williams and other highly selective institutions."
Cornell University:
Cornell's College of Engineering hosted their Fall Diversity Hosting Weekend from September 27th to the 29th. Cornell is a private Ivy League university located in Ithaca, New York. Four MITES students attended, living in current student's residence halls, participating in lab demonstrations, and meeting with faculty and staff at Cornell.
