About Us
We are a group of students who participated in the Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science (MITES) program during the summer of 2012 from June 16th to July 28th. Created by MIT's School of Engineering in 1975 and run by MIT's Office of Engineering Outreach Programs, MITES has been addressing the gap of minorities pursuing advanced technical degrees since then.

Every MITES class has a motto, which serves a purpose in which all participating students are charged with and are expected to strive towards. The Class of 2012's was "Igniting Inspiration". The premise behind our motto was that each of us high achieving students from communities around the country and Puerto Rico had a responsibility to go back to our respective communities and ignite them to strive for the heights that we do. Inspiration doesn't come easy, but we hope to use what we learned during MITES to make a positive, lasting impact.
